Hindus Protest In Sindh, Pakistan

From Shiva Kachi ji

Historic Protest Sit-in by Pakistan Darawar Ittehad in Front of Sindh Assembly – March 30,

A historic protest sit-in was organized by Pakistan Darawar Ittehad outside the Sindh Assembly in Karachi on March 30, 2023, against the ongoing injustices, oppression, and discrimination faced by the Sindhi Hindu minority community.

The protest was led by the founding chairman, Faqir Shiva Kachhi, and witnessed participation from thousands of people across Sindh, including leaders of various Hindu minority organizations, as well as Muslim and Christian leaders, supporters, friends, and families. Women, men, and children all gathered in large numbers, raising their voices in protest and conveying their concerns to the highest authorities and institutions.

While speaking to the media, Faqir Shiva Kachhi and other leaders highlighted serious issues, including the forced religious conversions and marriages of minor girls, which directly violate the Sindh Child Marriage Act. They also pointed out the rising incidents of kidnappings for ransom, targeted killings for refusing extortion, illegal land grabbing, harassment under various pretexts, and encroachments on graveyards. They further stated that certain groups continue to threaten and intimidate minority communities, forcing many families to migrate due to fear.

They emphasized that cases of forced conversions involving minor girls, young women, and even married women are increasing, yet the government has failed to enact effective legislation to stop these practices, creating an atmosphere of fear and insecurity.

The leaders also raised concerns about discrimination in government employment, where members of the Hindu community are often treated unfairly. Due to a prevailing culture of favoritism and nepotism, poor individuals are deprived of job opportunities, development schemes, and minority funds. Instead of allocating reserved seats to genuine representatives of the Darawar (scheduled caste) communities—such as Kachhi, Bheel, Kohli, Meghwar, Thakur, Baghri, Jogi, Rebari, Oad, and others—political parties tend to favor wealthy elites.

They further criticized the poor state of healthcare and education, which continues to deprive underprivileged communities of basic rights. The demand for the right to dual voting was also reiterated, stating that without it, minorities are unable to elect their true representatives.

Pakistan Darawar Ittehad had previously submitted a written charter of demands to the Sindh government. However, they expressed disappointment that the government failed to fulfill its promises. As a result, they announced another protest sit-in to be held in May 2026 outside the Sindh Assembly. They called upon even larger participation than the previous historic gathering, urging people to stand united against injustice and for the protection of their rights.
